Modern house built over the 14th century palace-house of the abbot of Sant Pere de Rodes. It was the ancestral home of the pedagogue and Jesuit Ramón Ruiz Amado and the writer Luis Ruiz Contreras.
The building is located on the same site where once stood the house documented in 1383 as the palace-house of the abbot of Sant Pere de Rodes, in the neighborhood of Mount Salner. The two dates inscribed on the lintels of the two doors of the vestibule refer to the date of construction (1681) and to a later renovation (1927). The current 19th century manor house, with a first floor and two floors, was owned by a family of Castilian civil servants, of which two brothers stand out: the pedagogue and Jesuit Ramón Ruiz Amado and the writer Luis Ruiz Contreras, linked to the Generation of ’98. In the lobby there are mural paintings with classical style images, covered during the post-war period under the slogans of Acción Católica Española (Spanish Catholic Action).
The house has preserved its authenticity with elements from different periods such as fireplaces, terracotta floors, authentic period doors, high ceilings with wooden beams, the 18th century staircase, the old theater, an old chapel, very high ceilings with Catalan vaults.
The first floor consists of the spectacular entrance, full of history, a garage/storage room and an independent apartment. The second floor mostly renovated with staircase, beautiful kitchen with fireplace, bright living / dining room, a cozy living room, bathroom, 5 bedrooms;
The second floor is currently empty with many possibilities due to its size, high ceilings and many original details.
